Terms of Service

Sherlock.cx — operated by Laeka — Last updated: April 2026

1. Service Description

Sherlock.cx is an API cost intelligence platform that monitors, aggregates, and analyzes your usage across AI API providers (such as OpenRouter, OpenAI, and Anthropic). The service provides cost dashboards, anomaly alerts, per-model breakdowns, and an AI assistant (Watson) to help you understand and reduce API spend. Sherlock.cx is operated by Laeka.

2. Account Responsibility

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must notify us immediately at hello@sherlock.cx if you suspect unauthorized access. Sherlock.cx accounts are personal or organizational — sharing credentials across unrelated parties is not permitted. You must be at least 16 years old to use the service.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Attempt to reverse-engineer, scrape, or extract data from the platform at scale
  • Use the service to build a competing product without prior written consent
  • Introduce malicious code, perform denial-of-service attacks, or probe for vulnerabilities
  • Share, sell, or transfer your account to a third party
  • Misuse Watson (the AI assistant) to generate harmful, illegal, or deceptive content

Violation of acceptable use may result in immediate suspension without refund.

4. Data & Privacy

Sherlock.cx stores API usage metadata — request counts, token volumes, model names, costs, and timestamps — synced from your connected providers. We do not store your API keys in plaintext. Keys are encrypted at rest using AES-256 and are never logged or exposed in any response.

We do not sell your data to third parties. Aggregated, anonymized statistics may be used internally to improve the service. You may request deletion of all data associated with your account at any time by contacting us. Full privacy practices are described in our Privacy Policy.

5. Payment Terms

Billing is handled by Stripe. By subscribing to a paid plan, you authorize Laeka to charge your payment method on a recurring monthly basis.

  • Free — 1 provider, 7-day history, 5 Watson queries/day. No charge.
  • Pro — $29/month. Unlimited providers, full history, 50 Watson queries/day.
  • Team — $79/month. Multi-user, shared reports, unlimited Watson.

Subscriptions renew automatically. You may cancel at any time through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period. We do not offer prorated refunds for partial months, except where required by applicable law.

6. Service Availability

Sherlock.cx is provided on a best-effort basis. We do not guarantee any specific uptime, service level, or availability percentage. Scheduled maintenance, third-party API outages, or infrastructure incidents may cause temporary disruptions. We will make reasonable efforts to communicate planned downtime in advance.

7. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Laeka and its affiliates shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use Sherlock.cx, including but not limited to loss of profits, data, or business opportunities. Our total liability for any claim related to the service shall not exceed the amount you paid to Laeka in the three months preceding the claim.

8. Termination

You may delete your account at any time from the Settings page. Laeka reserves the right to suspend or terminate your account without notice if you violate these Terms, engage in fraudulent activity, or if continued service presents a legal or security risk. Upon termination, your data will be scheduled for deletion within 30 days, unless a longer retention period is required by law.

9. Changes to Terms

Laeka may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated by email or via an in-app notice at least 14 days before they take effect. Continued use of the service after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. If you do not agree with the updated Terms, you may terminate your account before the changes take effect.

10. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Quebec, Canada, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any disputes shall be resolved in the competent courts of that jurisdiction.
